Michael Augustine's Fundraiser
Pay Tribute To Those Who Paid The Ultimate Sacrifice
Help those who put the welfare of others before themselves, and ask for nothing in return!
Why have I decided to fundraise?
I have recently had the honor of getting to know several people who are active, or have previously participated, in the United States special operations forces (SOF). During this time, I have been touched by the people, and their stories about the hard work, team work, and ultimate sacrifices that are made every day to protect our country. Over the past couple of years, I have been excited about a newly discovered personal passion which includes pushing my limits, mentally and physically, by participating in events that pay tribute to others who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
I am participating in the Epic Charity Challenge – D-Day Tribute which will take place in Normandy, France on June 6, 2018 (D-Day Anniversary).
I have been inspired by all of the SOF members I've met, and I am honored to be able to sacrifice myself for a day to help what some have done for most of their lives. For this event, I am supporting the National Navy UDT-Seal Museum, located in Fort Pierce, FL.
What am I doing to raise money?
Here is what I am doing to raise money from people who want to make a difference in the world by giving back. I will be one of 35 participants from around the world that will launch from boats in the English Channel to swim 6.2 miles onto Omaha Beach in France. We will then climb the 120 foot cliffs and arrive at the U.S. Memorial Cemetery. After laying a wreath in remembrance of our soldiers who died on the invasion in 1944, we will don 44 lb. packs and march 20 miles to the town of St. Lo, the original objective of Operation Overlord on D-Day 1944.
This challenge is going to push me out of my comfort zone by requiring me to travel half way around the world and participate in an activity (swim) that I have no experience, nonetheless in one of the most challenging swimming environments, then followed up by a 20 mile march. I have been training for the past 60 days, and will continue to train up to the event to ensure that I am successful in completing this team event to honor our fallen heroes.
How will your money help the National Navy UDT-Seal Museum?
About the Navy SEAL Museum – (https://www.navysealmuseum.org)
The main objective of the Museum remains the promotion of public education by providing the opportunity to explore the history of the Navy SEALs through interactive exhibits while honoring the fallen at the SEAL Memorial and caring for those warriors' families through the Trident House Charities Program. Your donation will go directly to the Trident House Charities Program, and support specific programs, including, but not limited to (a) medical services of special needs children that are not covered under a family's policy, (b) provide a free stay for SOFs and their families or the family while the SOF member is deployed, (c) college scholarships for children of SOFs, and much more.
The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum is the only museum dedicated solely to preserving the history of the U.S. Navy SEALs and their predecessors. Located in Fort Pierce, Florida, the Museum resides on the training grounds of the original Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDU) and Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT), the Frogmen.
What does your support mean to me?
Your donation means the world to me. It continues to motivate me to make a difference. It continues to motivate me to push towards my full potential. You have arrived on this page because you are someone who I know wants to make a difference. You arrived on this page because you are someone who is separately fundraising for causes that you are passionate about. Your support will make a difference for people who place the welfare of others before themselves, and ask for NOTHING IN RETURN!
